Final Portfolio

This is my final portfolio. I chose a simple red and black design because those are my favorite colors and ironically are UT's colors. I chose Alien League font for the title and header text and chose Avenir condensed for the body text. I originally had alien league as the body text too, but I found that Avenir condensed was an easier text to read, but also still worked with the header text. I'm really proud of my final project. I'm really happy I decided to take this class because I learned a lot. I was nervous coming into it not knowing anything about any of these programs, but I now feel incredibly accomplished and am proud of my new skill.

Anthony Kershner animation

For my animation project, I decided to go off of my collage. I really enjoyed working with animation. I used the song Boogie Fever as my audio. Throughout the video I have the music notes moving around since the music plays throughout my entire video. I had the text fade in at the when the lyrics were sang. I also had the people move to make it look as though they were dancing. I also chose to fade the dancers in once the lyrics were sang so they looked as though they were catching the "Boogie Fever."

Collage Environment

For my project, I decided to use lyrics from the the musical Rock around the Block. The lyrics from the song "Nifty Fifties" that I chose was Take me right back to the nifty fifties. Right before I started brainstorming topics for my project, I was talking to my mom on the phone and she was telling me about how my little sister is in that musical at her school. So, since I had that musical on my mind I thought that it would be cool to create a photo of a date scene from the 50s. Dating today is so lame compared to in the 50s. People used to go on fun dates back in the day. There was no texting or Tinder. When I think of a date in the 50s, I think of people swing dancing to upbeat music playing from a jukebox in a diner. I also picture a couple sharing a milkshake. This is how I came up with the image that I created. First, I used the spot healing brush to make the back wall into a completely red wall. Then, I inserted a photograph of a picture frame with the name of a diner.

Magazine Cover

I enjoyed working on this project very much. I decided to make a magazine cover for one of my favorite bathing suit stores: Chubbies. I have so many bathing suits from there. All of their designs are so fun and colorful. I put myself as the main photo. This required strategic placement and a great deal of time to make the selection of my body. I also used photoshop to make my skin look clear. I removed all of my tattoos. I decided to use a gradiated background to make the bathing suits pop out more. I like the fonts that I choose. I used the drop shadow behind the pictures and text on the right hand side. Original photo of me:

Self-Insertion

For my self-insertion project, I used a picture of me and my two friends from Halloween. I was Hugh Hefner and they were Playboy bunnies. I decided that it would be comical to take that photo and put us at the Playboy manshion in Los Angeles. This project was time consuming. I used the burn tool to create shadow beneath us. I didn't want to use this tool too excessively because the more I added it, the more the effect looked fake. I think that I used it just enough to make it appear as though we are standing in that specific location.

ASCII

For my HTML project, I decided to create the Tampa Bay Lightning Logo. This assignment took a deal of patience and trial and error. It was a very tedious process, but I am very satisfied with my final product. The curves were the most difficult aspect of my project. I played with the gradient background for a while. In the end, I decided to use the two different shades of blue to create a faded look. I made the logo white so that it would pop out because it contrasts with the background. <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <script> window.onload = function() { var canvas = document.getElementById("myCanvas"); var context = canvas.getContext("2d"); ////////////////////////////////////// start below this line ˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇ context.rect(0, 0, 800, 600); var grd = context.createLinearGradient(200, 200, 200, 800, 800, 800); grd.addColorStop(0, "#1E2A5C"); grd.addColorStop(1, "blue"); context.fillStyle = grd; conte

Vector Illustration

This is my vector illustration. This project by far has been my favorite in the course up to this point. While it was incredibly challenging and time consuming, I am proud of my final product. I decided keep the bottom half of the background; however, I chose to make the top half of the background one solid color and used the gradient tool. The most challenging part of this project was replicating the rough texture of the tree. Also, I had to be incredibly patient and use the pencil tool to  make the panda look furry. Overall, I am very satisfied with my vector illustration and am happy that I am learning more about Illustrator and the different tools available within the program.

Fabio

This is Fabio. He is a robot bird who lives alone in the only tree in the park. He longs to one day move his nest closer to the mountain that he can see everyday from his home in the tree.

"Addinkted" Logo

I decided to create a logo for a fictional company that would strategically design and generate sleeve tattoos for people. I decided to name my fictional company "Addinkted." The font I chose was Trattatello because of its grungy aesthetic. I made the color of my company name red because it contrasts with the background, therefore; it stands out. Also, when you get a tattoo ink is injected into your skin, which makes you bleed. This red color may also be associated with blood. Also, I decided to have my logo back because ink is black. I based my logo off one my original rough sketches. I chose the horse chess piece to represent my logo because it is a symbol of strategy. Strategically placing tattoos together is also like completing a puzzle. This is why I decided to incorporate puzzle pieces in my logo. Lastly, I decided to make ink drip from the bottom left corner of the logo to further emphasize that this company is a tattoo company.

Elephant Caligramme

I used Adobe Illustrator to create my caligramme. I chose to make an elephant because that is my favorite my animal. I used words that are often associated to elephants to create the entire image. I used shades of brown and grey for the text.
